Thursday 28

“Blog Wars” (Sundance 8 p.m.) This documentary traces the rise of the Weblog as a tool for political candidates. By following the 2006 midterm elections, the film examines how online democratic activism is shaping important elections.

Friday 29

Shred Fest (Encore WAM 6 p.m.) Welcome to 24 hours worth of snowboarding movies. Powder, baby! Powder!!!

“Masters of Horror: Valerie on the Stairs” (Showtime 10 p.m.) This episode, directed by Mick Garris (who did just about every Stephen King miniseries), is based on a short story by Clive Barker. It concerns a sexy spirit haunting a writer’s commune. Christopher Lloyd stars. … I’m assuming not as the sexy spirit.

Saturday 30

“NLL Season Opener” (Versus 8 p.m.) It’s Colorado versus Rochester in the season opener of the National Lacrosse League. I don’t have to tell you this is gonna be a barn burner! Lacrosse, baby! Lacrosse!!!

Sunday 31

Check out “Idiot Box” for suggestions.

Monday 1

“Rose Bowl” (KOAT-7 3:30 p.m.) USC vs. University of Michigan.

“Fiesta Bowl” (KASA-2 7 p.m.) Ohio State vs. Florida.

“Wildfire” (ABC Family 7 p.m.) Since it’s shot locally, I feel an obligation to promote this teen soaper, which has its third season premiere tonight. … Not enough of an obligaton to actually watch it, mind you, but still.

Tuesday 2

“Orange Bowl” (KASA-2 6:30 p.m.) Wake Forest vs. Louisville.

“Dirt” (FX 9 p.m.) Courteney Cox finally makes her post-“Friends” move with this weekly drama centering around the editor in chief (Cox) of a popular tabloid newspaper. Evil paparazzi and trashy movie stars? Sounds like a fine source of inspiration.

Wednesday 3

“Sugar Bowl” (KASA-2 6:30 p.m.) Bowled out yet? No? Well, here’s another one: Notre Dame vs. LSU.

“Beauty and the Geek” (KWBQ-19 7 p.m.) Rescued from The WB, this reality series is now airing on The CW. Each week, eight couples (one hot chick, one dorky dude) compete against one another for $250,000. The Norwegian version is called “The Princess and the Professor.” The Italian version is called “The Doll and the Nerd.” The Estonian version is called “The Beauty and the Genius.” … Yeah, you heard me right: “The Estonian version.”

“Knights of Prosperity” (KOAT-7 8 p.m.) A group of blue-collar guys (led by former “Grounded for Life” star Donal Logue) plot to rob Mick Jagger in this new midseason sitcom. Originally, they were going to rob Jeff Goldblum. But I guess Jeff is too big a celebrity, so they got Mick instead.

“In Case of Emergency” (KOAT-7 8:30 p.m.) More midseason shenanigans: A group of thirtysomethings who all went to the same high school are reunited and realize their lives didn’t turn out as planned. Sure, it’s not the most original of set-ups, but the cast list (including David Arquette, Greg Germann, Kelly Hu and Jonathan Silverman) holds some promise.
