Elvis Movie Marathon (TCM 4 a.m.) Elvis Aaron Presley, the King of Rock ’n’ Roll passed away today in 1977 at the age of 42. After observing a moment of silence, feel free to fill the rest of the day with a marathon of Elvis-centric cinema including Stay Away Joe, Charro!, Elvis: That’s the Way It Is 2001, Speedway, Double Trouble, Spinout, Harum Scarum, Kissin’ Cousins, Jailhouse Rock, Viva Las Vegas, Clambake and Wild in the Country.

“Ed Sullivan’s Rock & Roll Classics: Elvis Presley” (TV Land 6:30 p.m.) If you want a break from Elvis movies, check out TV Land, which kicks off its Big E coverage with some of Elvis’ best performances on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” Followed at 7 by “Elvis by the Presleys” and at 8 by “Urban Myths & Legends: Elvis.”

“Tuna Wranglers” (Discovery 8 p.m.) After “Deadliest Catch,” “Lobstermen: Jeopardy at Sea” and “Lobster Wars,” TLC is scraping the bottom of the boat with yet another “fishing sure is tough” reality show. Next up: “Cod Jockeys,” followed by “Smelt Hunters” and finally “Clam Jammers: The Next Generation.”

Friday 17

“Ty Murray’s Celebrity Bull Riding Challenge” (CMT 7 p.m.) God, who do I want to see gored more: Vanilla Ice, Leif Garrett, Stephen Baldwin or “Jonny Fairplay”? I just can’t decide.

Saturday 18

“Masters of Science Fiction” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) Tonight, we’ve got Anne Heche and Malcolm McDowell in front of the camera, Michael Tolkin ( The Player, The Rapture ) behind the camera, and a short story written by Robert Heinlein. Not too shabby.

Sunday 19

“Big Love” (HBO 9 p.m.) With “John From Cincinnati” done and gone (seriously, don’t ask me—I can’t help you), HBO moves “Big Love” back to Sunday nights for its final three eps.

Monday 20

“Top Gear” (BBC America 7 p.m.) Long considered the best car-related show in the world (it’s been on the air since 1978), “Top Gear” finally hits American airwaves.

Tuesday 21

“God’s Warriors” (CNN 7 p.m.) Christiane Amanpour takes a three-night look at why the world’s three major religions (Christianity, Judaism and Islam) are so convinced that God is on their side and they should be killing all the other people on Earth who claim the exact same thing.

As You Like It (HBO 10 p.m.) Shakespeare is good and all, but you know what would make it better? Ninjas! Apparently, Kenneth Branagh ( Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, Love’s Labour’s Lost ) agrees with me because he’s set his latest Shakespearean update in 19 th -century Japan.

Wednesday 22

“Anchorwoman” (KASA-2 7 p.m.) FOX’s newest “reality” show takes us to tiny KYTX-TV in Tyler, Texas. Seems that in a desperate bid to up ratings, the station’s owner has replaced the previous evening news anchor with swimsuit model and ex-WWE Diva Lauren Jones.
