Thursday 27

“The 9 th Annual Family TV Awards” (KWBQ-19 8 p.m.) Kudos to the CW for defying the Writers Guild strike and proceeding with an awards show anyway. Paula Abdul, David Cassidy, Debbie Allen and Jeff Foxworthy will be there to help hand out awards, proving that no actual celebrities were willing to cross the picket lines.

“The Making of Breaking Bad” (AMC 9 p.m.) Catch a behind-the-scenes sneak preview of AMC’s quirky new drug drama, shot right here in Albuquerque.

Friday 28

“Fight Quest” (Discovery 8 p.m.) In this punchy new series, two mixed martial arts fighters travel the world training with assorted ass-kicking masters. After taking a crash course in, say, kung fu in China, boxing in Mexico or something called Kali in the Philippines, one of our boys must take on a local in a no-holds-barred match.

Saturday 29

Good Night, and Good Luck (KRQE-13 7 p.m.) George Clooney’s award-winning portrait of newsman Edward R. Murrow comes to TV–appropriately enough, on Murrow’s old network, CBS.

“Unbeatable Banzuke” (G4 6 p.m.) G4 unleashes a Sumo-style Japanese gameshow with a four-hour marathon.

Sunday 30

The Sound of Music (KOAT-7 7 p.m.) Eh, it’s the holidays. Throw it on up there.

Monday 31

New Year’s Ape (AMC 8 a.m. ) I’ll be ringing in 2008 with an all-day marathon of ape movies, starting with 1968’s Planet of the Apes and ending with 1973’s Battle for the Planet of the Apes . It starts all over again at 6 p.m.

“Dick Clark’s Primetime New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2008” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) The most grammatically convoluted of the annual NYE celebrations kicks off the night with Ryan Seacrest and Dick Clark hosting and the usual collection of Nickelodeon/Disney Channel stars (Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers). We’ll assume Jamie Lynn Spears is staying home.

“New Year’s Eve Live” (KASA-2 11 p.m.) Tick off the minutes ’til midnight with hosts Cat Deeley and Spike Feresten and performers Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis, Lifehouse and Fall Out Boy.

“NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly” (KOB-4 11:30 p.m.) Or is Carson Daly/Lenny Kravitz and Alicia Keys more your speed?

Tuesday 1

“Sugar Bowl” (KASA-2 6:30 p.m.) Georgia vs. Hawaii.

“Rose Bowl” (KOAT-7 3 p.m.) Illinois vs. USC.

“Just For Laughs” (KOAT-7 7:30 p.m.) ABC revives the umpteenth rip-off of “Candid Camera” as slot-filler material.

Wednesday 2

“Fiesta Bowl” (KASA-2 6:15 p.m.) Oklahoma vs. West Virginia.

“Whacked Out Videos” (KASY-50 7 p.m.) Wow. People around the world send in their crazy home videos? What a great idea for a show! Hey, why not have Bob Saget host it?

“Wife Swap” (KOAT-7 7 p.m.) “Wife Swap” and its partner in crime “Supernanny” return to rescue us from the writers strike. Who needs writers when you have “reality”?

“Make Me a Supermodel” (Bravo 9 p.m.) Sorry, Bravo, but you’ve arrived at the party too late. We’re full up with model-based reality shows.
