Thursday 3 “My Name is Earl” (KOB-4 7 p.m.) Lately, we’ve had season premieres, midseason premieres, fall season premieres, spring season premieres, and tonight we’re gifted with the newly invented post-strike season premiere! NBC starts the night off with a one-hour “My Name is Earl” episode. Our hero’s no longer in jail, but he is in a coma. (Not a big improvement there.) “Step It Up & Dance” (Bravo 10 p.m.) It’s a new reality show and the word “dance” is in the title. Do I really need to explain it to you? “Rock the Cradle” (MTV 11 p.m.) From the makers of “American Idol” ( aw, crap ) comes “Rock the Cradle.” Each week, celebrity offspring (Kenny Loggins’ son, MC Hammer’s daughter, Dee Snider’s kid, and some girl who says her father was one of the Doobie Brothers) sing for their supper. Or fleeting fame. Whatever. Friday 4 “Battlestar Galactica” (Sci-Fi 8 p.m.) The fourth and final season launches tonight with Earth finally in the sights of the Galactica crew. … All I’m saying is don’t call me on Friday night, ’cause I’m not answering the phone. Saturday 5 “Date My House” (TLC 6:30 p.m.) I have no idea what producers are trying to imply with this new show, but I’m pretty sure tonight’s series premiere “Disco Makeover” ain’t gonna get you or your house laid. “The Night James Brown Saved Boston” (VH1 7 p.m.) He put on a televised concert, theoretically quieting riots in the wake of Martin Luther King’s assassination. It’s not like he was flying around the city in tights and a cape or anything. Kinda cool, anyway. And he probably still wore a cape. Sunday 6 “History Special: King” (History 7 p.m.) History Channel tosses aside kings of the Henry the VIII variety for one of the Martin Luther type to trace our country’s fight for civil rights and racial integration. Monday 7 “NCAA Men’s Championship” (KRQE-13 7 p.m.) All I know at this point is I didn’t make a penny in the office pool. Tuesday 8 “Deadliest Catch: Best of Season 3” (Discovery 7 p.m.) Discovery gets us all tensed up for a new season of North Pacific crab fishing by reminding us how many people nearly died over the course of last season. Wednesday 9 “Primetime: The Last Lecture–A Love Story For Your Life” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) Remember when TV newsmagazines actually had news? Yeah, well, no more, Charlie! Tonight, “Primetime” milks more tears from its audience than a Mitch Albom novel by broadcasting the “last lecture” of Randy Pausch, a computer science teacher at Carnegie Mellon University who was dying of pancreatic cancer. Pausch’s inspirational speech to his students was titled “How to Live Your Childhood Dreams.” … “Yeah, one question, professor: Is this gonna be on the final?”
