Thursday 28 “The Principal’s Office” (TRU 7 p.m.) Check out truTV’s newest docu-reality series. It’s like “COPS” only with slightly more sassback and slightly less gunplay. Friday 29 “Grizzly Man Diaries” (Animal Planet 7 p.m.) This eight-part series allows recovering-drug-addict-turned-wildlife-researcher Timothy Treadwell (subject of Werner Herzog’s Grizzly Man ) to tell his own story in his own prerecorded video “diaries.” Treadwell spent 13 summers living among the grizzlies in Alaska’s Katmai National Park. They eventually killed and ate him, but I’m sure it was quite the back-to-nature experience while it lasted. “Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO 12 a.m.) Bill Maher returns for another season of his controversial political talk show. Just in time, too. Somebody needs to be handing our politicians a major ass-chewing. Saturday 30 “Dangerous Season” (Discovery 6 p.m.) This one-shot documentary special follows Yosemite’s search and rescue team as they save assorted climbers, boaters and hikers from impending death. The moral: Tourists are idiots. “My Big Redneck Wedding: CMT’s Biggest Redneck Wedding Ever” (CMT 9 p.m.) Wheee-doggies ! Is Ellie May finally getting hitched? Granny’s gonna have to whip up a mess of vittles for this one. Sunday 31 “I Was Bitten” (Discovery 8 p.m.) By what? … Damn. Now I’m all intrigued. “2008 Jerry Lewis Telethon” (CMT 9 p.m.) Come for the ventriloquists, stay for the bloated celebrities. Monday 1 “Prison Break” (KASA-2 7 p.m.) Another season, another prison, another prison break. “Republican National Convention” (KOB-4, KOAT-7, KRQE-13 8 p.m.) Of course, if you just can’t wait until 8 p.m. for all the excitement of plastic American flag lapel pins and Metamucil, PBS goes live at 7 p.m. Depth Charge (Spike 8 p.m.) Eric Roberts stars as a disgruntled nuclear sub captain who threatens to nuke Washington, D.C. unless he gets a $1 billion ransom. … Sounds fine, but I always get a tiny bit disappointed when these Spike “Guy Movies” don’t star Jean-Claude Van Damme or Steven Seagal. Tuesday 2 “The Shield” (FX 11 p.m.) FX’s award-winning cop drama returns for a seventh season. It’s a great show and all; but ever since Iron Man came out, I’ve been kinda bummed this isn’t “S.H.I.E.L.D.” starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Wednesday 3 “America’s Next Top Model” (KWBQ-19 7 p.m.) “ANTM” returns for a staggering 11 th season! Apparently, models have a shorter shelf life than heavy cream. “Bones” (KASA-2 7 p.m.) Bones and Angel (or whatever they call him in this series) go to England to solve more grisly murders. “Sons of Anarchy” (FX 11 p.m.) FX’s newest edgy drama takes us inside the life of an outlaw motorcycle gang.
