Thursday 23 “Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas!” (KOAT-7 7 p.m.) Watch the 1966 animated classic with Boris Karloff. Don’t bother to stick around for the 2000 live-action version with Jim Carrey. “American Ninja Warrior” (G4 7 p.m.) It all comes down to one final obstacle course to glory. “Shep & Tiffany Watch TV: The Best of 2010” (Bravo 9 p.m.) Self-described “Internet sensations” Shep and Tiffany are a pair of crudely animated reality show junkies. Here, they get to make fun of the weirdest, wildest TV moments of the year. Friday 24 See “Idiot Box” above. Saturday 25 “R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour: The Series” (Hub 6 p.m.) The elementary school version of Rod Serling returns with a new horror anthology series for the kiddies. And on Christmas no less. “Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol” (BBC America 8 p.m.) BBC keeps up the tradition of “Doctor Who” Christmas specials. And this year’s is especially fitting. Seems The Doctor must become the ghosts of past, present and future in order to save a grumpy old miser. … Sure, just about every major TV character in history has had to suffer the indignity of re-enacting A Christmas Carol . But this one’s actually a time-traveler, so he’s got the skills to pull it off. Sunday 26 The Sound of Music (KOAT-7 6 p.m.) Be honest with me: Do you actually watch The Sound of Music this time of year, or to you just leave it on as background? “My Kid Survived” (TLC 8 p.m.) Yeah, no thanks to you, ya lousy parents. What was your kid doing in a gator-infested swamp to begin with? Monday 27 “American Chocolate Championship” (TLC 8 p.m.) What’s the point, really, if you can’t sample the winner? Tuesday 28 “The 33 rd Annual Kennedy Center Honors” (KRQE-13 8 p.m.) Paul McCartney, Merle Haggard, Oprah Winfrey and two guys I don’t know are awarded the ugliest medal in all of award-dom. Seriously, it looks like something a Klingon won in battle. Wednesday 29 “Dog the Bounty Hunter: Road Show” (A&E 7 p.m.) Dog and his “posse” (his word, not mine) travel across the country meeting fans. “Extreme Couponing” (TLC 6 p.m.) Extreme couponing? Extreme couponing ? Extreme couponing? … Yeah, any way I say this, it sounds stupid. “I Swear: The History of Dirty Words” (History 7 p.m.) Adam Ferrara travels America learning about the history, origins and evolution of swearing. George Carlin would be so proud. “I Used to Be Fat” (MTV 11 p.m.) Boy, MTV sure likes to make reality shows about people who don’t do anything even slightly interesting: teens who give birth, people who used to weigh more than they do now, Lauren Conrad. Next on the agenda: “I Can Walk and Chew Gum.”
