Thursday 8
“Celebrity Poker Showdown” (Bravo 7 p.m.) The third season of Bravo's red-hot card shark series kicks off hot on the heels of last season. This one begins with a knock-down, drag-out poker battle between Willie Garson, Jennie Garth, Dave Navarro, Richard Kind and Jerry O'Connell.
“Kevin and Drew Unleashed” (Discovery 8 p.m.) Each week, two big, bald frat brothers (stars of the first season of “Amazing Race”) set out across America in an RV taking on the most dangerous, difficult blue collar jobs and finding which one is the better worker. The loser has to perform some nasty stunt. Sorry, but “Kenny vs. Spenny” is way funnier.
Friday 9
“Stargate: SG-1” (Sci-Fi 7 p.m.) “Stargate: SG-1” kicks off another new season, just in time to introduce its spin-off series “Stargate: Atlantis,” which debuts next week. “Stargate” fans (and they do, apparently exist) will now have twice as much to geek out over.
Saturday 10
Marlon Brando Tribute (TCM 6 p.m.) TCM launches a five-film tribute to the late, great Marlon Brando starting with the Oscar-winning On The Waterfront at 6 p.m. The Wild One follows at 8 p.m. with Superman: The Movie,Teahouse of the August Moon and Julius Caesar at 9:30, midnight and 2:15 a.m.
Sunday 11
“American Family” (KNME-5 6 p.m.) PBS's acclaimed Latino drama closes out its second season story arc.
“The 4400” (USA 7 p.m.) Over the last 50 years, thousands of people have disappeared from the face of the Earth, allegedly kidnapped by UFOs. This July, USA explores what would happen if all those people suddenly came back at once in a mysterious ball of light? Where have they been? Why have they not aged? Why are they back? Francis Ford Coppola himself produces this limited-run sci-fi drama.
“The Great Domestic Showdown” (KOAT-7 8 p.m.) Now that we've finally gotten rid of Martha Stewart, do we really need another one? ABC thinks so, and is producing this reality competition in which expert homemakers show off their wicked domestic skills.
“Dr. 90210” (E! 11 p.m.) Dr. Rey is the most popular plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills. Naturally, he's got his own reality show now.
Monday 12
“The Assistant” (MTV 11:30 p.m.) Twelve wannabes, hoping to break into show business, get a taste of Hollywood reality acting as spastic comedian Andy Dick's personal assistant. Yes, it's just another elimination competition, but the premise sounds pretty cruel, really. I think I'd rather eat bugs over on “Fear Factor.”
Tuesday 13
“MLB: All-Star Game” (KASA-2 6 p.m.) The Boys of Summer gather in Houston for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
Wednesday 14
“A Program About Unusual Buildings and Other Roadside Stuff” (KNME-5 7 p.m.) No, that's the real title. I suppose with a title like that, I don't really have to say much. You trying to drive me out of business PBS?
