Thursday 23
“CSI” (KRQE-13 8 p.m.) Fans will note that there is no colon in the title, indicating that this is the original “CSI.” The season kicks off to a zippy start with not one but four murders over the course of one wild Vegas night.
“ER” (KOB-4 9 p.m.) This show has always loved tossing its docs into the middle of bloody disasters. This season opener is no exception, trapping Dr. Pratt underwater in a bus full of patients.
Friday 24
“Complete Savages” (KOAT-7 7:30 p.m.) This family sitcom is loosely inspired by the real-life adventures of the show's producer Mel Gibson (minus the billion-dollar bank account, of course.) Plot has a single father (Keith Carradine) struggling to raise five boys.
“dr. vegas” (KRQE-13 9 p.m.) Rob Lowe returns after the briefest of hiatuses for another shot at prime time. This time around, he's an unconventional young doctor working at the Palms casino in Las Vegas. (What is with TV and the city of Las Vegas lately?) At least Joe Pantoliano is along for the ride.
“Andromeda” (Sci-Fi 11 p.m.) The spacy, syndicated sci-fi series returns to life on (what else?) the Sci-Fi Channel. Former Hercules, Kevin Sorbo, boldly goes where no one has gone before (except, of course, for the crews of the Enterprise, the Battlestar Galactica, the Firefly, the Lexx, the Moya and assorted other planet-hopping, adventure-having heroes).
Saturday 25
Hustle: The Pete Rose Story (ESPN 7 p.m.) Tom Sizemore stars in this ESPN biopic of the disgraced former baseballer. … I'll bet you a million bucks its entertaining.
Sunday 26
“Clubhouse” (KRQE-13 7 p.m.) This hour-long drama focuses on a kid who gets a job as a bat boy with a major league team. Seriously, I don't see the drama inherent in the lives of bat boys.
“Wife Swap” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) Memo to television studio executive: If you're gonna rip off another network's TV show, couldn't you rip off a good one?
Monday 27
“Face Eating Tumor” (Discovery Health 8 p.m.) Puke! Are you trying to scare off viewers? Couldn't you at least have come up with a more hopeful title? “Cancer Miracles,” “Tumor Tales”: something along those lines?
Tuesday 28
“I'll Do Anything” (ESPN 8 p.m.) You know those embarrassing morning radio show contests, where listeners are encouraged to show up to used car lots and perform lowly, disgusting tasks in hopes of winning concert or sports tickets? Well, here's a TV show that does pretty much the same thing. Wonderful.
Wednesday 29
“Kevin Hill” (KASY-50 8 p.m.) Taye Diggs (Chicago) dumps the silver screen for the small screen in this drama/comedy about a playboy lawyer who suddenly inherits his cousin's baby daughter. It's sexy and cutesy at the same time!
“Center of the Universe” (KRQE-13 8:30 p.m.) This new sitcom is loaded with ringers (John Goodman, Jean Smart, Ed Asner, Olympia Dukakis, Diedrich Bader). Too bad nobody bothered to give them more than a generic sitcom formula to work with.
