Thursday 24“Party Boat” (Crackle streaming anytime) Brett Davern (“Awkward.”) and Katie Leclerc (“Switched at Birth”) star in this Crackle original movie about a fun-loving if irresponsible party animal who’s throwing the party-to-end-all parties for his best friend’s 25th birthday. The only problem? He’s secretly in love with her, and her boyfriend is about to propose. Sounds dopey, but it is directed by Dylan Kidd, who gave us 2002’s cleverly comic Roger Dodger.Friday 25Death Note (Netflix streaming anytime) The hugely popular Japanese manga/anime series—about a teenager who comes into possession of a supernatural notebook with the ability to kill any person whose name he writes inside of it—becomes a live-action feature. Adam Wingard (You’re Next, The Guest) directs. Nat Wolff (“The Naked Brothers Band”) stars as the morally conflicted teen, and—in a blatant bit of typecasting—Willem Dafoe stars as the demonic god of death. “The Tick” (Amazon streaming anytime) Amazon finally gets around to launching the third TV iteration of Ben Edlund’s ridiculous superhero. Fans, no doubt, remember the 1994 cartoon and the 2001 live-action sitcom starring Patrick Warburton. This somewhat darker and less spoofy version stars Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians of the Galaxy) as the delusional, blue do-gooder“Man-Eating Python” (Discovery 8pm) In the wake of a viral video showing a man being eaten whole by a python in Indonesia, host Rob Nelson reveals the science behind this nightmare scenario.“Love Blows” (WE 1:06am) Lisa runs Chicago’s top matchmaking service alongside her ex-husband and his ex-mistress—which is a totally believable, non-scripted setup for a reality show.Saturday 26“Mysteries of the Missing” (Science 8:04pm) Science Channel brings all of its brainy skills together for this new series, which starts out looking for new clues in the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.Sunday 27“2017 MTV Video Music Awards” (MTV 9pm) Katy Perry hosts, performs and has the possibility of taking home five awards. “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! Awesome 10-Year Anniversary Version, Great Job?” (Cartoon Network 1am) Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim celebrate 10 years of whatever it is they do on their surrealist anti-humor show.Monday 28“Win, Lose or Fail” (History 6am) History looks at the ways in which man has battled nature—from sharks to lightning bolts—with varying degrees of success.“Mysticons” (Nickelodeon 2pm) Girls get a chance to be kick-ass heroes in this fantasy-action cartoon in which a princess, a dwarf, an orphan and an elf are gifted with magical transformation powers by the legendary Dragon Disc, so they can fight off an army of evil skeleton warriors.Tuesday 29“Dare to Live” (MTV 1am) According to MTV, Rory Kramer is a “professional life liver” who has an “authentic career at the intersection of video production, thrill-seeking and music.” Apparently, that consists of a reality show in which he and his musician pals (such as The Chainsmokers) travel around the globe and do adventure-type stuff like flying a fighter jet or bungee jumping or something.Wednesday 30“Garage Rehab” (Discovery 8:02pm) Failing automotive repair places get the “Bar Rescue”/“Hotel Impossible” makeover treatment. So … less-oil-stained Dickies?
