Thursday 21

“Prowling Sharks in the Mediterranean” (Discovery 8 p.m.) Hey, if you're gonna be one of the world's top predators, you might as well stake out some prime real estate.

Friday 22

“Firefly” (Sci-Fi 5 p.m.) Joss Whedon's short-lived, much-mourned sci-fi series returns to the airwaves, courtesy of (who else?) Sci-Fi Channel. Sci-Fi is airing the complete series, including the episodes left unaired by FOX. Good timing, too: The feature film spin off Serenity hits movie theaters on Sept. 30

“Into the West” (TNT 6 p.m.) This multi-week, New Mexico-lensed horse opera comes to an end with the bloody massacre at Wounded Knee. I guess it's safe to say they're not going for the happiest of endings.

Saturday 23

“Good Times” (TV Land 4 a.m.) Talk about your good times. This weekend, you can spend 48 hours watching the early '70s exploits of Jimmy J.J. Walker. For a two-day drinking game, take a shot every time he says, “Dy-no-mite!”

Sunday 24

Pizza My Heart (ABC Family 7 p.m.) It's the umpteenth updating of Romeo & Juliet. This time, the teen lovers' parents own competing pizza parlors. Now that's Italian!

Whale Rider (KNME-5 8 p.m.) If you haven't seen filmmaker Niki Caro's intimate, emotional and ultimately magical portrait of life among the modern-day Maori people of New Zealand, then you owe it to yourself to switch on a little PBS tonight.

“Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law” (Cartoon Network 12:45 a.m.) TV's premier cartoon litigator returns for a new season. Tonight, the Birdman must defend Wally Gator against charges of being a redneck, while archenemy Reducto finds his constant urge to shrink things diminished when he falls in love with the bootylicious ex-girlfriend of Black Vulcan.

Monday 25

“Stranded” (Travel Channel 7 p.m.) Travel Channel finally gets around to some new programming. (If I see “Top Ten Beaches of Hawaii” again, I'm gonna scream.) In this new show, our host–British humorist Cash Peters–tries to travel the world using no money at all. Tonight, he's stuck without room and board in Deadwood, S.D. I sure hope he doesn't go looking for hospitality at the Gem Saloon, 'cause I hear owner Al Swearengen is a real jerk.

“Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” (Travel Channel 8 p.m.) King of all foodies, Anthony Bourdain treks around the globe, teaching you how to be a knowledgeable traveler, rather than a lowly tourist.

Tuesday 26

Thin Man Marathon (TCM 7:30 p.m.) Before Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie traded witty marital barbs in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, William Powell and Myrna Loy did a similar shtick back in the '30s (with markedly less gunplay, however). TAM gives us a night-long marathon including The Thin Man Goes Home, Shadow of the Thin Man, Another Thin Man, After the Thin Man and finally (oddly enough) the original Thin Man.

Wednesday 27

“Tripping the Rift” (Sci-Fi 8 p.m.) Sci-Fi's rude, but occasionally amusing computer-animated series returns for a new season of spacy hijinks.
