Hopefully this will be better than the Sci-Fi Channel’s infamous “The Roswell Crash: Startling New Evidence” special of 2002—which involved bags and bags of New Mexico dirt.“Fam” (KRQE-13 8:30pm) A young woman (Nina Dobrev), embarking on what she thinks is the perfect future with her stable fiancé (Tone Bell), finds her life radically altered when her troubled 16-year-old sister (Odessa Adlon) suddenly moves in with them. Yup, sounds like a comedic situation or a “sitcom,” as the old folks say.Friday 11“Sex Education” (Netflix streaming anytime) A virginal teen (Asa Butterfield) becomes a sexual guru when he channels his sex therapist mother (Gillian Anderson) and forms an underground sex education clinic at his school.Saturday 12My Mother’s Split Personalities (Lifetime 6pm) Poor Julie (Kayla Wallace). Her dad has just died from a heart attack and she returns home to find her estranged mom (Lindsay Hartley) acting strangely. (I think the title spoils that one.) But that’s not all: Mom also has a new boyfriend, a highly intelligent criminal who is plotting to get his hands on a vast amount of money left behind by her dead hubby. That’s what Julie gets for living on Lifetime Network.Sunday 13“True Detective” (HBO 7pm) After a dark, genuinely eerie first season and a wildly uneven second season, HBO’s crime anthology returns with this Ozark-based story arc starring Mahershala Ali, Stephen Dorff and Carmen Ejogo.“Valley of the Boom” (National Geographic 7pm) The lives of prominent figures in the ’90s tech boom, including their friendships, rivalries, victories and failures, are profiled in this docudrama series starring Bradley Whitford, Lamore Morris and Steve Zahn.“Tigtone” (Cartoon Network 1am) A “quest-addicted” hero slashes his way across a satirical fantasy world with melodramatic fury in this crazed animated series.Monday 14“The Passage” (KRQEDT-2 8pm) A young girl, unwittingly made part of a secret medical experiment, ends up battling a race of pseudo-vampires in this sci-fi horror series based on the books by Justin Cronin.“Made in Staten Island” (MTV 8pm) Some more Mafia offspring (in this case, Sammy “The Bull” Gravano’s granddaughter) get their own MTV reality show.Tuesday 15“Roswell, New Mexico” (KWBQ-19 8pm) The CW reboots/sequelizes The WB’s 1999 sci-fi soap “Roswell.” This time around, it’s actually shot in New Mexico. (So no more Joshua trees in the background.) Also, the producers are emphasizing the show’s (rather timely) metaphors about “aliens” and immigrants.Wednesday 16“Wayne” (YouTube Premium streaming anytime) In this action-comedy series from writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Zombieland, Deadpool), a 15-year-old sets out on his dirt bike with his new crush to take back the 1978 Pontiac Trans Am that was stolen from his father before he died.
