Let’s just say: It’s complicated.“Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men” (Showtime 7pm) Showtime’s new musical documentary series digs into the history of hip-hop apostles the Wu-Tang Clan.Saturday 11“My Dad Wrote a Porno” (HBO 8pm) The hugely popular British podcast “My Dad Wrote a Porno” finds Jamie Morton and friends acting out chapters from a series of amateur erotic novels that Morton’s father wrote under the pen name Rocky Flintstone. (No, really.) This one-off comedy special features the gang dramatizing a “lost chapter” from one of the books. It was filmed over two nights in front of a live audience at the Roundhouse theatre in London.Sunday 12“Veep” (HBO 8:50pm) The laceratingly funny political comedy from creator Armando Iannucci (“I’m Alan Partridge,” In the Loop, The Death of Stalin) closes out after seven seasons.Monday 13“Say Yes to the Nest” (HGTV 8pm) TLC has seen inexplicable success with its 15 season-long series “Say Yes to the Dress,” in which viewers spend 22 minutes in rapt anticipation wondering which dress a woman will purchase. So, naturally, HGTV does the same thing—only with newlyweds looking to buy their first home.“L.A.’s Finest” (Spectrum streaming anytime) Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba star in this somewhat belated spin-off of Bad Boys II. It follows Union’s detective character from Miami to Los Angeles where she’s teamed up with a new partner. It’s available exclusively through the over-the-top internet streaming service Spectrum TV Stream, which lost 145,000 customers in the first quarter of 2019. Maybe this will turn things around for them.Tuesday 14“Revisions” (Netflix streaming anytime) In this anime series, a Japanese high schooler and his friends are caught up in the mysterious “Shibuya Drift.” This causes the entire Shibuya neighborhood of Toyko to “time warp” 300 years in the future, where the kids are obliged to use giant mechanical robots to fight alien invaders. … If Japan isn’t already training teenagers to pilot giant robots, they’re really missing the boat. According to every Japanese TV series ever made, everyone in the not-too-distant-future has to fight alien invaders with giant robots.Wednesday 15“The Employables” (A&E 8:01pm) Job seekers with conditions such as autism or Tourette syndrome try to land jobs. … Hey, a cable documentary series in which the subjects are not annoying, overprivileged and combatively drunk rich kids/wives? I can get on board with that.
