Thursday 16
“Smallville” (KWBQ-19 7 p.m.) Is it me, or is “Smallville” getting more … superheroic. Not long after spin-off bait Aquaman made his bare-chested cameo on the show, comes another super-dude from the DC Comics canon: Cyborg. Could a live-action “Teen Titans” spin-off be on the way?
Friday 17
“High Hitler” (History 9 p.m.) How much did Hitler's drug addiction affect his decisions during World War II? I'm not sure, but you gotta love that title.
“Go Kinky” (CMT 12 a.m.) You also gotta love musician/author/agent provocateur Kinky Friedman. Apparently, he's now running for governor of Texas. This documentary/reality series traces Kinky's bid for political office. I'm not quite sure Country Music Television viewers get Kinky's decidedly “independent” point of view, but the show should be entertaining.
Saturday 18
Who Framed Roger Rabbit/Guys & Dolls (TCM 6 p.m./8 p.m.) TCM is in the middle of playing “360 Degrees of Oscar.” The festival features 31 days worth of Academy Award winners. But, just for fun, each film is directly connected to the film that follows it in a “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” kinda way. So what does 1988's groundbreaking toon Who Framed Roger Rabbit have in common with 1955's classic musical Guys & Dolls? Actor Stubby Kaye, who plays Marvin Acme in Roger Rabbit and Nicely Nicely Johnson in G&D.
Sunday 19
“Daytona 500” (KOB-4 11:30 a.m.) Are you ready for 800 consecutive left turns? … Jeez, no wonder all the sponsors are beer companies. Can you imagine watching all five hours of this thing sober?
“NASCAR: Animal Crew” (Animal Planet 8 p.m.) Have you ever wondered what sort of pets your favorite NASCAR drivers own? … Yeah, me neither. Although, I'm betting there are a lot of 'coon hounds.
Monday 20
“The Secret Life of … Cafeterias” (Food Network 8 p.m.) Food Network takes us down memory lane (pizza squares Fridays!) with this history of school cafeteria food.
Tuesday 21
“Survivorman” (Discovery 8:30 p.m.) Filmmaker/wilderness expert/crazy man Les Stroud spends each week getting dumped into the middle of nowhere with no food, no water and no supplies (other than a video camera). Tonight, he's tossed into the middle of a Georgia swamp. Have fun, buddy.
“Coral's Casting Couch: A First Look at The Real World Key West” (MTV 11 p.m.) MTV's venerable reality series enters its 17th season, which–frighteningly enough–means there are kids in high school who have never known a “TRW”-free world.
Wednesday 22
“Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp” (TLC 7 p.m.) Eight men going through a midlife crisis, five days, countless washed-up rock stars. TLC's new reality special shows us what it takes to trade red-hot guitar licks with Brett Michaels from Poison.
“Project Jay” (Bravo 9 p.m.) Here, the winner of Bravo's “Project Runway” gets his own reality show. … So, his prize for winning a reality show competition is another reality show?
