Thursday 21

“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” (KWBQ-19 7pm) The CW’s latest comic book-based series smashes together a bunch of random DC superheroes (Firestorm, The Atom, Back Canary, Rip Hunter, Hawkgirl, Hawkman) and sends them jumping around in time to stop an immortal named Vandal Savage from destroying the world

“London Spy” (BBC America 8pm) A romance between an MI6 genius (Ben Whishaw) and an ordinary man (Edward Holcroft) sets off a mysterious string of tragedies in this five-part drama.

“Dark Net” (Showtime 9pm) Showtime’s new documentary series digs into the dark and creepy side of the internet. Most of it involves sex. … Oh, who are we kidding? All of it involves sex.

“Baskets” (FX 11pm) In FX’s newest, rather bleak single-camera sitcom, middle-aged loser Chip Baskets (Zack Galifianakis) dreams of becoming a classically trained clown in France. But the guy can’t speak French, so that kinda puts a damper on that. Retreating to his hometown of Bakersfield, Calif., he’s faced with the humiliation of becoming … a lowly rodeo clown.

Friday 22

Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of the National Lampoon (History 7pm) History gets all pop cultural by airing Douglas Tirola’s enlightening and amusing documentary about notorious humor mag National Lampoon.

Saturday 23

“Chelsea Does” (Netflix streaming anytime) Comedienne Chelsea Handler returns to host this four-part docu-series covering the topics of marriage, racism, Silicon Valley and drugs.

Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart (Lifetime 6pm) Lifetime Channel dramatizes R&B singer Toni Braxton’s battle with lupus. Also, her divorce. OK, so it’s not as exciting as their recent biopics about Whitney Houston and Aaliyah—but they had the advantage of tragedies that resulted in death.

“It’s Not You, It’s Men” (OWN 7pm) Actor Tyrese Gibson and rap star Rev Run offer advice on sex, love and marriage, because … um, here’s where I kinda lose the point.

“Beowulf” (Esquire 8pm) Esquire gets all barbarian on us for this fantasy-drama based on the 1,000-year-old epic poem.

Sunday 24

“Rock & Roll Road Trip with Sammy Hagar” (AXS 7pm) Hey, it beats “Rock & Roll Camping Trip with Ted Nugent.”

“The X-Files” (KASA-2 8pm) After a brief, 14-year hiatus, Fox’ spooky supernatural/sci-fi series returns for a 10th season.

Monday 25

“Lucifer” (KASA-2 8pm) The DC/Vertigo comics character (a spin-off of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman) gets his own TV series. In it, the original fallen angel gets bored of life in Hell and gives it all up to run a jazz club in Los Angeles. Naturally, since this is television, he solves crimes on the side. No, really.

Tuesday 26

“Panda Republic” (Animal Planet 6pm) If pandas are so damn cute, why do they have such a hard time breeding? Maybe pandas think other pandas are stupid looking. Did you ever think of that, animal behaviorists?

“Outsiders” (WGN 7pm) WGN bravely combines “Duck Dynasty” and “Sons of Anarchy” for this redneck crime drama about a clan “living off the grid” and “outside the law” on a mountaintop in present-day Kentucky.

Wednesday 27

“Little Women: Atlanta” (Lifetime 8:02pm) Oh, look. They have little people in Atlanta as well. It is truly the Golden Age of Television.
