Thursday 29

“Hook, Line and Sisters” (TLC 8 p.m.) Can I explain something to you, TV? I’ve always found fishing far too boring to actually do myself. What makes you think I need 17 TV shows in which I watch other people fish?

Friday 30

“Confessions: Animal Hoarding” (Animal Planet 8 p.m.) This third-season winter premiere features a “ghost hunter hoarder.” Nor sure which is more shameful: the animal hoarding part or the ghost hunting part.

Saturday 31

Countdown (TCM 6 p.m.) TCM counts down to the new year with a cheerful collection of nuclear annihilation thrillers: 1964’s Fail-Safe (6 p.m.), 1950’s Panic in the Streets (8:15 p.m.), 1950’s D.O.A. (10 p.m.), 1968’s Ice Station Zebra (11:30 p.m.) and 1974’s Juggernaut (2:15 a.m.).

“New Year’s Rockin’ Eve: The 40 th Anniversary Party” (KOAT-7 7 p.m.) ABC starts the evening off bright and early with spotlight performances from years past. This year’s Rockin’ Eve gets started proper at 9 p.m. They’ve got Justin Bieber. So they win.

“NBC’s New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly” (KOB-4 9 p.m.) Drake, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton and Tony Bennett. Nice. But no Bieber.

“American Country New Year’s Eve Live” (KASA-2 11 p.m.) “American Idol” runner-up Lauren Alaina hosts. Definitely no Bieber.

“NYE in NYC 2012 Live” (MTV 12 a.m.) Demi Lovato hosts, Selena Gomez guests. Boy, a Bieber appearance here would really spice things up!

Sunday 1

“Angry Boys” (HBO 8 p.m.) From the makers of “Summer Heights High” comes this mockumentary series starring Aussie Chris Lilley as … basically everybody in a South Australia suburb.

Monday 2

“123 rd Tournament of Roses Parade” (KOB-4/KOAT-7 9 a.m.) If you don’t have to got to work today either, there’s parades! With floats! And marching bands!

“Extreme Clutter” (OWN 8 p.m.) Is it fair that everybody but Oprah has a TV show about hoarding? No. Problem solved.

“It’s a Brad, Brad World” (Bravo 8 p.m.) Bravo continues its noble goal of finding work for every flamboyantly gay fashion designer in America.

“Wife Swap” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) “Wife Swap” kicks off its seventh season by going celebrity. Tonight, Tracey Gold and Carnie Wilson swap households. If you try really hard, I bet you can remember who they are.

Tuesday 3

“Work It” (KOAT-7 7:30 p.m.) Two unemployed guys dress in drag in order to land jobs. Seriously? Even “Bosom Buddies” dropped that stupid premise in Season 2.

“Jane By Design” (ABC Family 7 p.m.) A teenager gets mistaken for an adult and lands a job at a hip fashion design firm. Think “Hannah Montana” crossed with “Project Runway.”

Wednesday 4

“I Get That a Lot” (KRQE-13 7 p.m.) Pamela Anderson, Jerry Springer, Apolo Ohno and Dr. Drew pull pranks on unsuspecting fans by pretending not to be Pamela Anderson, Jerry Springer, Apolo Ohno and Dr. Drew, but people who only look like Pamela Anderson, Jerry Springer, Apolo Ohno and Dr. Drew. High-larious!
