Thursday 27

“Power & Ice” (History 8:03pm) Cable TV finds another job in Alaska that can be turned into a reality show. This one follows power company employees as they work on electric lines. In the cold.

Friday 28

“Narcos” (Netflix anytime) Netfix continues to aim for the Hispanic audience with this narconovela—a soap opera-cum-crime drama about the criminal exploits of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura, Elite Squad).

Saturday 29

Fatal Flip (Lifetime 6pm) A young couple buys a house to fix up and sell—just like on all those TV shows! But they soon run afoul of a mysterious contractor with a dangerous past. Oh, Lifetime, is there no topic you can’t turn into a source of white, suburban paranoia?

“Hannibal” (KOB-4 9pm) NBC’s surprisingly zesty prequel to Silence of the Lambs didn’t make it to a fourth season, so the adventures of serial-killing psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) and his FBI agent BFF Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) end with tonight’s series finale.

Sunday 30

“The Director’s Chair: George Miller” (El Rey 6pm) Aussie George Miller ran roughshod over this summer’s box office with the sensational action vehicle Mad Max: Fury Road. Now the writer-director sits down with Robert Rodriguez to talk filmmaking.

“2015 MTV Video Music Awards” (MTV/VH1 7pm) Miley Cyrus is hosting the awards this year. Expect to see: her tongue, twerking, tiny boobs covered in electrical tape, weird backup dancers, lots of marijuana references.

Stolen From the Suburbs (Lifetime 7pm) A distraught woman searches for her kidnapped daughter before human traffickers sell the girl on the international market. … You never disappoint, Lifetime.

“Falling Skies” (TNT 8pm) It only took Will Smith 145 minutes to defeat the aliens in Independence Day. Yet Noah Wyle has been struggling with space invaders for five whole seasons. At least his efforts come to an end with tonight’s series finale.

“Breaking the Silence” (TLC 8pm) TLC tries to rebrand “19 Kids and Counting” as a child molestation survival show featuring “personal and emotional stories of survivors, information on where people can turn for help, and experts from the nation’s leading abuse prevention organizations.” … Hey. as long as you’re still making money off them kids, it’s all good. Right, TLC?

Monday 31

“Big Blue Live” (KNME-5 9pm) PBS and BBC co-produce this three-night event “celebrating amazing marine creatures.” Tonight starts off with a story about the rejuvenation of Monterey Bay, Calif.

“Fashion Police” (E! 9pm) After an extended hiatus (following a disastrous reboot in the wake of host Joan Rivers’ death) E! tries again with Melissa Rivers taking over for the short-lived Kathy Griffin. Tonight, the new cast tries ragging on last night’s MTV Video Music Awards.

“Todrick” (MTV 11pm) Welcome to the future, old people. YouTube sensation/dancer/flash mobber Todrick Hall gets his own MTV docu-reality show.

Tuesday 1

“Drunk History” (Comedy Central 11:30pm) The awesomely funny (and occasionally informative) “Drunk History” kicks off its third season by talking about New Jersey.

Wednesday 2

“Big Kenny and Family” (TLC 8pm) “Big Kenny” of country music duo Big & Rich gets a docu-reality show featuring his wife and kids. He’s no Todrick.
