Thursday 28

“Jesus: Rise to Power” (National Geographic 6 p.m.) Dr. Michael Scott (not an alias of Steve Carell’s character on “The Office,” but a real ancient history expert) looks at the rise of a small Jewish sect to Roman Empire-challenging world religion as a political power struggle.

Friday 29

Border Radio (TCM 12 a.m.) Three UCLA film students (including Allison Anders of Gas Food Lodging fame) wrote and directed this obscure cult film about L.A. musicians on the run to Mexico. It’s notable mostly for appearances/performances by ’80s punk rockers such as Dave Alvin (The Blasters), John Doe (X) and Chris D. (The Flesh Eaters)

Saturday 30

The Ten Commandments (KOAT-7 6 p.m.) It ain’t Easter until Charlton Heston parts the Red Sea.

“Doctor Who” (BBC America 6 p.m.) The Doctor returns from last year’s Christmas special with a new companion (the now twice-dead Clara Oswald played by Jenna-Louise Coleman). They start off the new season by battling some evil wi-fi in London.

“Orphan Black” (BBC America 7 p.m.) In this ominous new sci-fi series, a streetwise young hustler (Tatiana Maslany from Diary of the Dead) witnesses the suicide of a stranger who looks exactly like her. Naturally she takes over the woman’s identity and ends up getting entangled in a worldwide cloning conspiracy.

Sunday 31

Ben Hur (Ovation 6 p.m.) Not to be outdone by Reelz’ Barabbas mini-series, Ovation turns Ben Hur into a two-night outing featuring TV stars Joseph Morgan (“The Vampire Diaries”), Emily VanCamp (“Revenge”), Kristin Kreuk (“Beauty and the Beast”) and Hugh Bonneville (“Downton Abbey”).

“Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited” (BBC America 6 p.m.) BBC’s monthly tribute to the 50th anniversary of “Doctor Who” revisits the third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) with 1970’s “Spearhead from Space”—which briefly made mannequins scarier than clowns.

“Finding Bigfoot: Untold Stories” (Animal Planet 7 p.m.) Is one of them the story about actually finding Bigfoot? Cause if not, you should probably just shut up.

“Mr. Selfridge” (KNME 9 p.m.) “Masterpiece Classic” casts Jeremy Piven (“Entourage”) as the flamboyant, turn-of-the-century founder of famed London department store Selfridges in this eight-episode series.

Monday 1

“The Gossip Game” (VH1 7 p.m.) The editor-in-chief of The Source, a Vibe columnist, the host of Ms. Drama TV Blog and one of the ladies from Hip Hop Gossip Site are among the gossip industry “journalists” featured in this new docu-reality series.

Tuesday 2

“Robot Combat League” (Syfy 8 p.m.) The season comes to an end with the final robot face-off. I had Thunder Skull in my brackets, but that match against Harvard was a killer.

Wednesday 3

“The Spies of Warsaw” (BBC America 7 p.m.) Former “Doctor Who” star David Tennant headlines this two-part mini-series as a decorated World War I veteran sucked into a world of international intrigue in the days leading up to World War II.

“Forever Young” (TV Land 8 p.m.) OK, so picture “Big Brother,” only with a bunch of cranky old folks and a bunch of hip young kids living under the same roof. How wacky and hilarious would that be?
