Thursday 2 The Wonder Girls (TeenNick 6 p.m.) K-pop band The Wonder Girls tries to make it big in America with its own TeenNick movie. Think The Cheetah Girls, but … considerably more Korean. Brooklyn Boheme (Showtime 6:30 p.m.) Historian Nelson George paints a picture of the black art movement that burgeoned in Fort Greene in the ’80s and ’90s. The Union (HBO 7 p.m.) Director Cameron Crowe ( Almost Famous ) documents the making of Elton John and Leon Russell’s oddball collaborative album. “I Just Want My Pants Back” (MTV 9 p.m.) MTV turns David J. Rosen’s hipster novel into a dramedy about a twentysomething Brooklyn slacker looking for love (and a pair of stolen pants). Friday 3 “Paul Mooney: The Godfather of Comedy” (Showtime 7 p.m.) I don’t know if he’s the Godfather of Comedy, but the guy did write for Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, “In Living Color” and “Chappelle’s Show.” Plus, he once got kicked off stage at the Apollo Theater for saying George Bush’s mother “looks like the guy on the Quaker Oats box.” So he at least qualifies as a legend in the biz. Saturday 4 Secrets of Eden (Lifetime 6 p.m.) John Stamos is a small-town minister who gets implicated in the death of two parishioners. Uncle Jesse, no! Sunday 5 “Puppy Bowl VIII” (Animal Planet 1 p.m.) Good news! You can get in a good three hours’ worth of puppy watching before the actual Super Bowl starts. Or you can flip over during Madonna’s halftime show. Your choice. “Super Bowl XLVI” (KOB-4 4 p.m.) Tom Brady and the New England Patriots square off against Eli Manning and the New York Giants. Madonna claims ownership of the loser. Monday 6 “Smash” (KOB-4 9 p.m.) Steven Spielberg produces this musical-minded, “Glee”-inspired series about the casting, producing and mounting of an elaborate Broadway show on the life of Marilyn Monroe. Anjelica Huston, Jack Davenport and Debra Messing are among the cast. I just can’t figure out why this show claims to be “introducing Katharine McPhee.” We kind of got introduced to her back in 2006 when she was runner-up on “American Idol.” Tuesday 7 “Doomsday Preppers” (National Geographic 7 p.m.) NatGeo shines a documentary light on families obsessively preparing for assorted end-of-the-world scenarios. At best, these folks will be ready when the Mayans destroy the Earth (or however that’s supposed to work). At worst, they’ve got a lifetime supply of bullets and peanut butter. “The River” (KOAT-7 8 p.m.) Apparently, we’re not over the whole “found footage horror” thing just yet. Here, the people behind Paranormal Activity give us a shaky-cam TV series about documentary filmmakers lost in the Amazon looking for a famous scientist. Fair warning: Spooky things occasionally pop into the camera lens and go “boo!” Wednesday 8 “Person to Person” (KRQE-13 7 p.m.) Edward R. Murrow’s famous interview show from the ’50s returns to TV with Charlie Rose and Lara Logan taking viewers into the private homes of public figures.
