The University of New Mexico Lobos silenced its critics Saturday after a beat-down in Vegas. Especially UNM’s quarterback, Sheriron Jones, who became the first to throw for four touchdowns in two consecutive games in program history. The offense has acquired its struggles throughout the season; however, numerous plays, made by Junior QB, Jones, against a conference rival have not only made him a candidate for the “Manning Award Quarterback of the Week,” but also a hopeful turnaround for the general program.

Aside from being overly optimistic, the thought of a mid-season run—and possible bowl appearance—cannot be overlooked. Jones set another Lobos record by accumulating a 29-point second quarter with a 74-yard touchdown to Elijah Lilly before capping another 26-yard score; connecting with Anselem Umeh in the last 17 seconds of the first half.

After an unexpected loss against Liberty University last week, Jones—who led UNM with 72 rushing yards—has continued to establish his starting role as QB. Expect another big performance on Saturday against conference-rivals, Colorado State.
