Zombie aficionados, here’s your chance to show off your mad monster maquillage skills; if you’re undead makeup-challenged, master creep stylists will be on hand to help you ooze that post-undertaker look. The official Dark Matters Film Festival launch party happens at Sister (407 Central NW) on Thursday, May 16. The ghoulish soundtrack will be provided by surf/dance/indie rock sextet Hoverbourd, lo-fi indie pop trio Lindy Vision, punk foursome Get Action (formerly Riley Switch), dance-pop trio YOU, unknown quantity First Lovve and DJ Limn. Scare up some 21-and-over fun starting at 8 p.m. with costume contests, a zombie apocalypse photobooth and even a zombie moan-off. Five bucks gets you in.

Big Boi
Antwan André Patton aka Big Boi is best known as a member of Outkast, but his solo work is even more intriguing. … and infinitely more introspective and weird. His latest solo release, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, incorporates whip-smart guest choices—Phantogram, Little Dragon, Kelly Rowland, Wavves, ASAP Rocky and more—and garnered critical accolades. Find out why when Boi’s Shoes for Running World Tour hits Sunshine Theater (120 Central SW) on Tuesday, May 21. Tickets to the all-ages show range from the general admission price of $23.50 to a VIP meet-and-greet package for $75, and the sly, polyvocal rhymin’ commences at 7 p.m.
