We just launched a music interface over at Alibi.com called Earwig. It’s a place for sound worshippers to create and share their favorite playlists with other amateur mixologists. Sound like you?Migrate to alibi.com/earwig to start making your online mixtape from scratch, or upload your favorite playlists from iTunes or imeem. You can customize your mixes by renaming playlists, artists and titles; giving them descriptions; adding and dropping music; and rearranging your songs. Or scroll through playlists that other Alibi.com community members have created—you can even hear samples of most of the music. When you’re done mixing your masterpiece, you have the option of submitting it for judging in an ongoing contest. Makers of the best mixes win $10 in their choice of sonic goods at Charley’s CDs and 33s. Earwig and the contest are 100 percent free, courtesy of Alibi.com. What are you waiting for? Wig out, already!
Two amazing nights of talent are getting packed into one teeny, tiny basement—the Cellar Bar, downstairs at Zinc Wine Bar and Bistro (3009 Central NE). Now, the Cellar Bar hosts local entertainment most nights, but we’ll see four extraordinary touring acts this week. I hope you’ve been doing your stretches—audiences will have to fold in on themselves like shirts in a dresser to make the seating work. Both shows are 21+, free and start around 9 p.m.On Thursday, Sept. 18, desert chanteuse Marianne Dissard will be joined by Burque expat Jon Forrest Little (the Ant Farmers) and singer-songwriter Will Elliot (like Dissard, he’s from Tucson). The three of them are utterly original songwriters, almost otherworldly. It’s destined to be an electrifying show.Four days later, master DJ and remixer King Britt, aka Silkworm of hip-hop-jazz fusion overlords Digable Planets, spins Monday, Sept. 22. The intimate concert was created as an invite-only show, but it’s since been opened to everyday rubes like us. Albuquerque’s DJ Eldon warms up the Cellar with an opening set.
