Music To Your Ears Lest Ye Be Judged
The deadline for the International Songwriting Competition is Monday, Dec. 1. The competition is seeking original music in 20 genre categories from amateur and professional artists. $150,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to 62 winners–but even cooler than the booty is who’ll be listening to you. The large judging panel includes music industry giants like Tom Waits, Robert Smith, Loretta Lynn, Neil Finn, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Davies, Darryl McDaniels (Run DMC) and Black Francis/Frank Black. Producer Steve Lillywhite is on there, as are top executives from Universal, Virgin, Sony BMG and MySpace Records, Putumayo World Music, and VH1 and MTV.
