Wicked-bad live music abounds this week—the gang and I just didn’t have the space to cover it all. That, and I didn’t get an interview with Geddy Lee . That’s OK, though—what the hell would I have asked him? "Um, soooo, Mr. Lee, are you from Middle Earth?"

Below is a summary of upcoming shows more exciting than winged beasts shredding on double-necked guitars.

On Friday, quasi-local Americana band
Lowlights plays a semi-rare show at Low Spirits with Lost in the Sun and Big Eagle. (Actually, between this show, The Moondoggies on Sunday, and Smokin Joe Kubek and Bnois King on Monday, Low Spirits is all excellence this week—see the calendar at lowspiritslive.com.) Also on Friday, Concepto Tambor, another quasi-local band, performs at the Launchpad with fire dancers La Flamilia for the joint DVD release of Calaveras .

Saturday brings the
Taos Solar Music Festival (more info in our music calendar) to downtown Taos, and a burned-out comedy performance by ’70s counterculture caricatures Cheech & Chong to Sandia Casino Amphitheater. Performing at Burt’s Tiki Lounge on the same night is San Diego psychedelic / easy listening band (eh?) The Donkeys along with Lousy Robot and Et Al.

On Tuesday the magical Canucks known as
Rush fly into Hard Rock Pavilion (formerly Journal Pavilion). Also performing that night at the Launchpad is D.C. psych band Dead Meadow ( see music calendar).

Alibi’s music calendar and also those of our lovely advertisers.
