Two very different local acts are releasing shiny new recordings on Saturday, April 23. Read all about it after the jump. Double Plow Since 2007, Double Plow has been playing music that melds hippie jamming with Delta blues and country. The band formed when Jimmy James Norris transplanted from Indianapolis, joining his brother Dwayne “Buzzard” Norris in Albuquerque. Mike “Moses” Montoya jumped in on bass and the trio became a band. On Saturday, Double Plow releases its second album Where the Moon Always Shines —which totes colorful album art and a disc made to look like a tiny vinyl record—at Marble Brewery (111 Marble NW). The free show begins at 8 p.m. Learn more about these hippies at doubleplow.com. Justin Hood Vocalist, DJ and producer Justin Hood works within varying genres, but on Saturday the New Mexico native—who cites Dean Martin as one of his biggest influences—releases hip-hop album The Falling Season . The all-ages show happens at the Launchpad (618 Central SW) at 7 p.m. Asper Kourt, Lost Lingo, Reviva, Mic Deli, DJ Ohm and Adapted Theory provide supplementary performances. Admission is $10.
