Meat-fueled jet set to take offAfter sitting in a hangar for years, the fuselage of an airplane is now “flying” through the streets as the city’s newest food truck. Air Force Juan offers American fare including hamburgers and hot dogs and features a meat smoker with a capacity of 200 pounds. That’s a lot of meat! After the owner, Ned Montaño, was contracted to create the mock-up fuselage for an aerospace company that went out of business, he was informed that it would cost too much to move the damn thing. It sat in a yard for ten years before Ned decided to give it a whole new life. Let’s hope the eats are just as exciting. Now, every third Friday, folks can head to the Storehouse to pick up eats for Fido and Fluffy. George and Sam, hermanos de Roswell, are brewing up everything from lagers to porters, and the taproom features a menu provided by nearby Gold Street Caffé. The Bros. open their doors at 2pm on weekdays, so it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a late liquid lunch. On weekends, roll out of bed and get there at 11am on the dot for the breakfast of champions! With happy hour every weekday from 3-7pm and a patio soon to be completed, this is the place to be to ring in the autumn season.Contain your excitementIf you haven’t heard about Green Jeans Farmery yet, you’ve certainly driven past the odd clustering of big, colorful aluminum boxes at Carlisle and I-40 and wondered what the hell they’re building down there. Completion of the restaurant collective—housed in those eyecatching shipping containers—is well underway. With the last shipping container installed and over 75% of the spaces already leased, the Farmery will feature eats from Amore Neapolitan Pizzeria, Rockin’ Taco, Rustic on the Green and Bocadillos. It will also have a bevy of beverages from Epiphany Espresso, Santa Fe Brewing Company and Zeus’ Juice, as well as a workout spot at Fit Studio. According to its website at greenjeansfarmery.com, the Farmery is designed to function as "an indoor/outdoor gathering place that builds on ingenuity, fun and localist choices." With the Santa Fe Brewing Company slated to open the second week of September, you can look forward to seeing the Farmery up and running in the near future.
