Erin Wade landed on a great idea in 2008 when she opened the first Vinaigrette location in Santa Fe. Since then, she has opened new locations of the salad-centric, farm-to-table eatery in Albuquerque and Austin. Now she has a new project in the works: At 1720 Central Ave. NW, the location of the old Draft Station and 35 Degree North Coffee, Wade will be opening two new concept restaurants. One, called Modern General (of which there’s already one location in Santa Fe), will serve healthy breakfast food, and the other, The Feel Good, will be a soup and wine bar. Planned opening date is sometime in the spring, but the buildings have to be completely overhauled before then—they were flooded due to ART construction on Central Avenue earlier this year.

Los Poblanos, everyone’s favorite local organic lavender farm and inn, has opened a new restaurant. It’s called Campo, and is now serving breakfast and dinner. The Los Poblanos website calls the restaurant’s fare “Rio Grande Valley Cuisine,” which, according to the menu, involves dishes like breakfast sandwiches with housemade sourdough, blue corn hushpuppies, mole-braised lamb and salads made from locally grown dandelion greens. Campo will source their ingredients almost entirely from local farms and their own fields at Los Poblanos. Executive Chef Jonathan Perno, a native New Mexican, has a résumé that includes working under Wolfgang Puck at Postrio in San Francisco and learning organic farming techniques at a farm in Berkeley. Needless to say, he’s a perfect fit for Los Poblanos.
Chokolá Bean to Bar, a small husband-and-wife chocolaterie in Taos, has been nominated as a finalist in the Good Food Awards for 2018, a blind tasting competition that celebrates fine foods in America. The finalists are rigorously vetted for their environmental and ethical standards and their supply chain transparency, and Chokolá, which creates all single-origin, ethically-sourced chocolates, passed with flying colors. Two of their bars have won the nomination in the chocolate category. They are the only business in New Mexico in any category to be nominated. The winners will be announced on January 19, 2018, at an event in San Francisco.
