Nothing’s more romantic than being surrounded by bugs. At least, so goes the logic of the BioPark BUGarium’s adults-only Valentine’s event on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 5:30pm. Enjoy appetizers and drinks in the BUGarium, meet some creepy crawlies and talk to exhibit volunteers, then listen to the Love Bugs talk from the staff Bug Expert, from whom you’ll learn all about bugs’ love life, I guess. Afterwards, head to the BioPark’s Shark Reef Cafe for a special dinner at 7pm. Tickets are $30 for just the bug portion of the evening, $50 if you’re going to the dinner as well. You know what I love? Karma Cafe. The revolutionary restaurant where “everybody eats” regardless of their ability to pay hosts a Valentine’s tasting event on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 5pm at Monks’ Corner Taproom (205 Silver Ave. SW), where Head Chef Wade McCullough serves up six tasting courses. Each course is paired with a Monks’ Corner beer. Limited tickets are available at $25 (plus tax) per head, and all funds go towards helping Karma Cafe cover operating costs and feed those who can’t pay for their own meal. Who doesn’t want to have dinner in a greenhouse? Or, to be more precise, in the Green House Bistro & Bakery (4 Thomas Rd., Los Lunas)? This cute little restaurant is serving a special Sweetheart Dinner on Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14, in case you didn’t know) and Friday to Saturday, Feb. 16 to 17. The prix fixe dinner is $60 per couple and includes a choice of oysters on the half shell or stuffed mushrooms, choice of tomato bisque or garden fresh salad with lemon vinaigrette, 8 oz. ribeye and sea scallops served with roasted asparagus or sweet potato noodle tossed with fresh spinach, tomatoes and peas in a light roasted garlic oil, and a dessert of heart-shaped chocolate cake and chocolate covered strawberries to share.
