It’s officially festival season, and nothing makes that clearer than the lineup of events I’ve got for you this weekend. They’re all on Saturday though, which means you’ll have some deciding to do. Flip a coin, maybe? A three-sided coin?
Weekly Specials: Viva Pizza Fest Viva Pizza Fest
Dozens of Albuquerque-area pizzerias come together at the Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum (9201 Balloon Museum Drive NE) on Saturday, May 19 for the first annual Viva Pizza Fest. Tickets are $15, and you can buy packs of sample tickets to try the different pizzas available, starting at a 3-pack for $5. Kids 12 and under are free. There are also samples of local wine and beer available, as well as live music and outdoor yard games like giant chess and bean bag toss. The event goes from noon to 7pm. Weekly Specials: Bees And Seeds Bees And Seeds
Bees and seeds make up a big part of the reason for the (harvest) season, so it’s only fitting that we should celebrate them this time of year. At Tractor Brewing Wells Park (1800 4th Street NW), beekeepers, farmers and other guest speakers come together on Saturday, May 19 to talk about the importance of these two factors in growing sustainable and healthy food. The event goes from 1 to 9pm, and features live music, activities for kids, a seed exchange, an art auction, and free plants and seeds to go home with. Admission is free.
Weekly Specials: Bacon And Brews Bacon And Brews
For a little summertime indulgence, head north to Brandenburg Park in Red River—just above Taos—for Red River Brewing Co.’s (217 W. Main Street) first annual Bacon and Brews event from noon to 5pm on Saturday, May 19. Breweries and wineries from all over New Mexico are attending, as well as several barbecue joints cooking up their best bacon. There are games, live music and many local vendors to shop from. Tickets are $5 for admission only, $10 for 10 bacon tastings, and $15 for 10 bacon and 10 beer tastings. Kids 12 and under are free.
