Now is the winter of our discontent, made glorious summer by this son of Burque; And all the clouds that lour’d upon our state in the deep bosom of the monsoon season. Now are our brows bound with victorious sweets; Our tanned arms hung up for seconds; Our full tummies asking for not a second helping, our overstuffed selves marching to delightful measures. Lo these desserts have smooth’d our wrinkled stomaches; And now, instead of maintaining diets, to place the eyes towards summer bodies, we caper clumsily out of chairs to the lascivious pleasing of The Strokes. But I, that am not shaped for wanton gazes, nor made to court a woman looking for dad bods; I, that am rudely stuff’d, and want dinner’s majesty to strut away from my swollen visage; I, that am too full of this fair proportion, cheated of calories by overeating nature, deformed, unfinish’d, hungry before my time into this breathing world, scarcely lacking deserts and that so sweet toothed and enjoyable that servers ask me if I need assistance. This week, we speak of desserts, dear readers.

Rude Boy Cookies (115 Harvard Dr. SE #7) has been a staple of the Bricklight district for a while now, and they continue to thrive because the concept is so simple. Cookies and milk. Yes, they have other culinary creations that delight the senses and are worth your time, but earnestly try to think of when the last time you just sat down to eat a chocolate chip cookie with a glass of milk and relaxed for 10 whole seconds? Give it a shot. I promise you’ll feel peace that you’ve been missing since childhood.
ChocolateDude Cacao Y Cafe’ (3339 Central Ave. NE Ste. E) is what happens when hippie culture and high-end confectionary work come together. Imagine a nicer Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, but with a more accessible feeling to the joint (minor pun intended). I would give you a recommendation of what to try but let’s be real with ourselves. Everyone has a favorite candy already in mind, and no matter what I say, it won’t stop you from going back and reliving the cherished memory that holds that dessert in such high esteem.
