Oh, JIT—After a successful summer-long trial program (which, we'll remind you, the Alibi helped launch during this April's Spring Crawl), the Downtown Action Team has finally launched a regular late-night shuttle service for patrons of Downtown's many bars and music venues. It's called “The Downtown Shuttle” or “JIT,” and it runs every Friday and Saturday night from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. You'll be able to buy the $5 bus passes through participating venues Downtown, or directly at the shuttle location on Fourth Street and Central. Service extends to “anywhere in town.” Ok, so what's a “JIT?” According to my press release, it's short for “jitney”—basically a small bus that carries passengers for a low fare. The release also suggests it's an acronym for “Just In Time.” Whatever. Just stop drinking and driving, for chrissake.

Creepy Crawlin'—Nob Hill will host its very first pseudo-crawl on Halloween night (which falls on a Monday this year). “Haunted Hill” will feature one or two bands (most likely on the mellower side of the spectrum) per participating establishment on Central between Girard and Carlisle. There will be no cover, but drink specials and candy will abound. We think you should leave the kids at home for this one. The action kicks off around 9 p.m.

Attack of the Frogs—Santa Fe's Frogville Records will host a Halloween hootenanny this Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Santa Fe Brewing Company’s Pub & Grill (35 Fire). The “Attack of the Frogs” show and party will feature Frogville recording artists Hundred Year Flood, Goshen, Percy Boyd and other as-yet-unspecified musical guests from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. A $10 cover gets you in the door. Black Cowboys and East Indians—The Albuquerque band formerly known as Black Cowboy has changed their name to Funk Shui (pronounced “funk schway”). Principal member Martin York says “the energy of the music is [still] quite infectious … for those of you who have seen us, you’ll be excited to learn we’re writing and adding new material currently as well.” Keep an eye on the Alibi calendars for upcoming Funk Shui shows and home-revitalization workshops. (Just kidding.)
