Keep the Music Alive–Every music student loves scholarships, and everyone loves concerts, so a scholarship benefit concert is a great idea! The Lorenzo Dominguez Memorial Scholarship Fund is hosting a concert to benefit UNM guitar students at UNM’s Rodey Hall on Friday, Jan. 27, at 7 pm. Liquid Cheese, Feels Like Sunday and Michael Chapdelaine play and there will be a performance by members of the Yjastros Flamenco Group. The tax deductible donation is $8 for students and $15 for everyone else.

Movies vs. Music–Due to the recent filming Downtown of some “Hollyburque” flick, Vertigo Venus‘ gig at the Launchpad scheduled for Jan. 17 was canceled. Boo! The man hasn’t kept them down—just forced them to relocate. See them at the small, intimate venue that is the Tricklock Theater (118 Washington SE) during the final Reptilian Lounge of the season on Saturday, Jan. 28.
