The Ban Got the Boot—As if we didn't already know, the Mayor Marty Chavez-backed proposal to ban alcohol sales at all-ages show was going down the second it was announced. The “Scene Killer” didn't kill much of anything. The new regulations adopted by the Alcohol and Gaming Division, which will go into effect in April, require that venues selling alcohol at all-ages shows must have a seprate drinking area where minors aren't allowed, something most venues do already. It took some legwork, it took some real scene-wide love, but it was worth every bit. The all-ages scene still lives.

A Little Less Name, A Lot More Rock—The folks over at Ralli's Fourth Street Pub & Grill are dropping the sports bar gig along with part of their name. This weekend, Fourth Street Pub & Grill is hosting the grand opening of their new rock-lovin' club with performances by Radio La Chusma, 2bers, One Foundation and Mystic Vision on Friday, March 10, and La Junta, Crazy Fool and Liquid Cheese on Saturday, March 11. They've beefed up the stage and the sound system; let's see how the rock look suits them.

Happy Hour at the Launchpad—Take in some rock a little bit earlier this weekend with a happy hour show at the Launchpad featuring Ian Moore. The doors open at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 10, which gives you plenty of time to hear some of Ian's no-nonsense performance before heading off to whatever other obligations you may have. Tickets are $7 at the door. The time—priceless.

Get Well, Spankey Lee!—Last week's debut of the “lite” jazz and swing trio, Suite Swing, at the Range Café was cancelled due to injury incured by guitarist and vocalist Spankey Lee in a car accident. After losing feeling in his hands for over 30 minutes, he's been working through the pain and discomfort and will make his gig at the Range Café in Bernalillo on Thursday, March 16, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Play on, Spankey. We're looking forward to the next Suite Swing debut.
