505 Chile Factory and Restaurant Swaps Locations—505 Southwestern is celebrating their first- and second-place 2006 Scovie Awards at this year’s National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show with some fancy new digs. The 505 Southwestern restaurant and chile factory used to be on Montgomery just west of San Pedro, but, according to 505 owner Roy Solomon, “we couldn’t really operate the way we wanted to up there.” After seven of their 13 years in that location, the entire operation moved down to 3313 Girard NE, just north of Candelaria.
Roy says that, unlike the last location, the new 505 has two separate rooms–one for manufacturing and another for dining. He also says they’ve acquired a tortilla machine, which means fresh tortillas made to order with each meal. Stop in for breakfast or lunch from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays. Call 883-5505 to reach the restaurant.
