Pre-Crawl Warm-up– The two bands created by this year’s Edge Ultimate Band Contest (Blind Dryve and Possess and Conceal) will take to the Launchpad stage on Friday for a deciding head-to-head rock-off. Prizes for the winning act include a guaranteed slot at Spring Crawl the following evening. Needless to say, we didn’t know which band that would be when we went to press, so we included them both in this week’s Spring Crawl feature. May the best band win! Doors open at 6 p.m.

Following the Launchpad rockstravaganza is a 9 p.m. benefit show with Concepto Tambor, The Mindy Set, The Dirty Novels and Sin Serenade. Give what you can to get in, because all donations collected at the door will go to a yet-to-be-determined school music program.

The local lads are rising stars in the modern rock circuit and are fresh off an eight-city tour of the western United States. Check the special Crawl Schedule of Bands in this week’s issue for their venue and showtime.

Looking for Love in West-Central NM?— If you can’t get a ride into Burque for the Crawl, may I suggest this Saturday’s "Gathering" at Narvin’s Joint (South Chavez Loop, Old 66 Frontage Road) near Thoreau? The Gathering features Amounting to Nothing, Native emo from Vanderwagen (that’s about 20 miles south of Gallup), Christian pop punkers Guilty Wilson from Gallup and Nason from Bloomfield, Mack and Coming of Day. The show is free. Gas is expensive. You do the math. Contact the kids at myspace.com/amountingtonothing for additional useful details.

Farewell

Two Weeks To Go will play their last show on Sunday, April 30, at SolArts. They’ll be joined by Fair Shot, Sunset Gun and Shane Wallin. The "indie-emo-rock-your-socks-off" upstarts will split so lead guitarist Justin can proselytize the anthills of far-flung deserts. Remaining Two Weeks To Goers Magan (guitar, vocals) and Barry (bass, vocals) will release an album on May 3 (also at SolArts) under their two-person acoustic collaboration Look Mom No Hands. You can still find TWTG drummer Charlie behind the skins of Dear Ocean.
