Sunday, July 2, Fort Marcy Ballpark in Downtown Santa Fe (all-ages): “Ya Se Fue! Ya Se Fue! O-Zo-Mat-Li!” And with that resounding chant (which means “Ozomatli is leaving” in Ingles ), the Los Angeles-based, Grammy Award-winning Latin/hip-hop band disappears into the crowd with their array of percussion instruments, leading the audience in one last rhythmic jam before putting a cap on one of the best live shows you’ll ever see.

Ozo has recently added Middle Eastern influences to their already jam-packed list of sonic inspirations, which includes salsa, meringue, hip-hop, jazz, ska and reggae. I’m usually a bit too shy to dance at a concert while surrounded by hundreds of sweaty bodies, but Ozo makes it damn near impossible to not let go of your inhibitions and gyrate along with your fellow audience members.

Joining Ozo at the picnic is a stellar lineup of Santa Fe acts including Ryan McGarvey, Sol Fire and Hundred Year Flood. There will also be a beer garden for picnickers who are of age. Gates open at 3:30 p.m.

You can get your tickets for the show at the Lensic Box Office in Santa Fe, ticketssantafe.com or by calling (505) 988-1234. Tickets are just 20 bucks in advance, but at the gate they will be $25, so reserve your spot on the lawn today.
