Stop—don’t order that Chama Sleeping Dog Stout. Put down the can of Marble Red. You need to stop drinking now because you are going to want to participate in the epic and wondrous 15-day event known as Albuquerque Beer Week. From May 17 to the 31, events will flow/sprout all over the city. From exclusive beer tappings and tastings to trolley rides, the celebration offers something for everyone (over 21). The packed 15 days boasts events at all local breweries, as well as happenings featuring national brews at local restaurants. If contests, live music or flights are your fancy, ABQ Beer Week will slake your thirst. Let’s cut to the chase and take a look at some of the highlights:
What better way to feel virtuous about 15 straight days of imbibing than donating your own liquid gold to those in need? In exchange for your pint, Tractor will fork over a $4 voucher. Later in the week, Marble and Nexus will do the same. Don’t give too much blood away, though, or you might not be able to handle the rest of the festivities. Saturday, May 17 Noon – 4:30pmTractor – Wells Park Location, 1800 Fourth Street NW
Local brewers relinquished rivalries to come together and create the mystery beer to be poured at Albuquerque Brewers Collaboration Beer Release. A fitting mascot for Beer Week, the brew will be available at several locations throughout the week, but will be first welcomed with live music by the Gregg Daigle Band at Marble’s downtown location.Thursday, May 221pm-11:59pmMarble, 111 Marble NW
The ABQ Trolley Company opens its blue doors to thirsty riders for its second annual Ale Trolley Tour. Enjoy an open-air ride to various Duke City microbreweries where behind the bar visits and prizes wait. Though light heckling is permissible, remain courteous to your guides and drivers as your sampling progresses. Saturday, May 241pm-5pmTour begins and ends at Hotel Albuquerque (800 Rio Grande NW)
It’ll be nearing the end of beer week when Marble’s beer and cheese pairing event rolls around on Thursday evening. Just in time to clear your head and fortify your stomach with first-rate cheese, olives and encased meats. All with a side of beer, of course. Thursday, May 294-7pmMarble, 111 Marble Ave NW
