Marie Yniguez, chef and owner of Bocadillos (3600 Cutler NE), just won $10,000 on the Food Network’s “Chopped” last Tuesday. I swear: Every time I turn around, we have another local chef winning some kind of honor. Congratulations, Chef Yniguez!

Food News Kitchen Jump Start

Three Sisters Kitchen is a planned multi-use work space that will give up-and-coming restaurant entrepreneurs a place on Gold SW between 1st and 2nd Streets to test out their culinary ideas without having to buy expensive equipment. They expect to open in the Fall.

Food News Helping Local Students In Need

If you’re a struggling student, then you’ll be glad to hear about the Lobo Food Pantry’s “mobile food pantries,” like the one held at South Lot every month. Students are asked to bring an ID before receiving food, but they will not be turned away if they don’t have one. The next Lobo Food Pantries will be held on March 24 and April 28, from 10am to noon.

Food News Double The Health

Some Lowe’s Market grocery stores in N.M. are participating in the Double Up Food Bucks program, which gives food stamp recipients double their benefits when they use them to buy fruits and vegetables grown in the state. The program is starting in ABQ and Santa Fe.
