Sheesh. It was a busy week for the criminal element of ABQ. The owners of Bob’s Burgers (6101 San Mateo NE) put up a sign last week saying they wouldn’t be accepting cash after 3pm until the mayor starts dealing with crime. That’s because they were the victims of an armed robbery a few days earlier. This week, Saggios (107 Cornell SE) also became the victim of an armed robbery. And get this: A 1,700-pound barbecue pit (and the brisket that was cooking in it) was stolen from Pepper’s Ole Fashion BBQ (301 San Pedro NE) last weekend, on July 30. Seriously, guys?
The former location of Paul’s Monterey Inn (1000 Juan Tabo NE) is is demolished and slated to be replaced with a new Peter Piper Pizza location. The new spot is scheduled to open Oct. 31.
The new Cantero Brewing Company is opening up in the Brewery District. It will be setting up shop in the building once occupied by Firkin Brewing (3351 Columbia NE), which closed last November. There will be a full kitchen, brewing facility and 2,500 square feet of dining space. Expect the opening in November or December.
