When I was in high school, my best friend and I started Tea Club. Once a week, the outcasts of the high school cliques would gather together to drink a new tea in a welcoming space that would devolve into utter chaos, as most high school gatherings left unattended by adults would. I will always love and appreciate tea, which is why I’m excited for Tea 101 Class & Tasting, taking place at The Fragrant Leaf (3207 Silver Ave. SE) on Sunday, Mar. 1 from 2pm to 4pm. At the cost of $20 per person, you’ll be able to try five styles of tea with light snacks included. There is very little in this world that is as calming and re-centering of an experience as sitting down with a proper cuppa and letting yourself breathe. For more information on attending this event, contact The Fragrant Leaf at (505) 255-0522.
The Golden Corral Buffet & Grill (5207 San Mateo Blvd. NE) has been host to many things. But now, the crown jewel of their events is the NM Furry Golden Corral Meet, happening Saturday, Feb. 29 at 1pm. Community is what you make it, and if your community includes a fursona, more power to you. It can be hard to connect with others in niche groups, because making that first step is tough. But finding a place to express and be who you are is hugely important, and NMFurry is giving those who participate in a furry lifestyle a place to be themselves. If you have any questions about the event, feel free to check out the group’s website at nmfurry.com.
