The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival Announces its 32nd Season
There's more to Santa Fe than turquoise jewelry, art galleries, celebrity shoppers and snobbery. Every year for the past 31, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival has featured some of the top classical musicians in the world performing an exceptional range of music. This year, it's no different.
The festival kicks off with a gala opening on Sunday, July 18, with a cocktail reception at Swig, followed by a concert at 6:30 p.m. by pianist Emanuel Ax and the Emerson String Quartet and, finally, a gourmet dinner at the historic Eldorado Hotel, where patrons will also enjoy a benefit auction and dancing.
The remainder of the festival's opening week events takes place at St. Francis Auditorium and includes a Music of the Masters concert on Monday, July 19, at 8 p.m. featuring the works of Britten, Chopin and Beethoven; an Insight Concert on Wednesday, July 21, at 6 p.m., the first in a series of hour-long concerts designed to introduce chamber music to new listeners; and two events on Thursday, July 22—the Music at Noon series featuring pianist Wu Han performing Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky, and the second concert Music of the Masters series at 6 p.m., featuring works by Haydn, Joseph Celli, Mozart and Bartók.
