Thursday, Aug. 5; Club Rhythm & Blues (21 and over, 8 p.m.): If it weren't for Putnay Thomas, host of KUNM's “The Blues Show” and the man behind the Blues Bizness production company, Albuquerque wouldn't have enjoyed half the legendary blues artists it has over the years. Now, following a brief sabbatical, Putnay's back, and this time he's got Louisiana bluesman Larry Garner in tow.

A star on the British blues scene for many years, Garner first gained recognition stateside following the 1995 release of You Need to Live a Little, his near-perfect debut for Verve. Since then, the 52-year-old has become as renowned for his pristine swamp boogie as he has for his unique storytelling talent and the ability to spout hilariously poignant “Larryisms” at his live shows. Garner is an accomplished guitarist with a timeless voice whose blues is saturated in the same swamp groove as that of Silas Hogan and Clarence Edwards.

Welcome back, Putnay, and thanks for all the memorable shows so far and to come.
