Riffing on this week’s New Mexico Jazz Festival kick-off (see "Spotlight"), Santa Fe’s Vintage Poster Gallery (901 Canyon, 505-577-7419) is mounting the largest exhibition of vintage Polish jazz concert posters in North America. The collection starts in the underground ’50s (jazz was condemned under Stalinist communism) and winds up through the European festivals of the ’90s; just about all of the posters are surreally eye-popping. The exhibition runs through Aug. 15 and opens with a reception this Saturday, July 19, from 2 to 5 p.m. Bert Dalton will perform, courtesy of Friends of Santa Fe Jazz. Regular gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. Two sets of filmmakers will shoot local music subjects this weekend, and they’re prowling for extras. Neither pays, but seeing your name in the credits might be worth your time. First up, Hit By A Bus will film a music video at Bleeding Eardrum Rehearsal Studios ( bleedingeardrum.com, call 298-1917 for directions) this Saturday, July 19. The band needs a menacing horde of zombies to show up and lurch. Bring creepy, crappy clothes (the zombies are getting doused with fake blood), and HBAB will provide the makeup artists and "light snackage." Call time for zombies is around noon, and the shoot’s expected to last four hours. The cast and crew are already locked down, but the finale "Southwest Regional Air Guitar Championship" scene is slated for Sunday, July 20, and a gripload of background actors are needed for a day-long shoot at the Launchpad.You’ll get to watch Mike Trujillo (long-haired host of Public Access-27’s "Zero Hour Squared") and Steve Beneath (long-haired frontman of The Ground Beneath) shred air until their fingers bleed, and there’ll be free food. Participants are also promised free beer at the following evening’s wrap party."LadyFingers" is coproduced by Pani!c bassist and vocalist Eva Blaylock, who organized the 2008 New Mexico Rocks! Pinup Calendar. Blaylock says the film features Albuquerque bands on screen and in its soundtrack. The hope is to tour the finished product though film festivals across the country.
