The 12-hour birthday spanking starts at 2 p.m. and features 21 of Burque’s best bands, from varsity rock—like Black Maria, Anesthesia, Torture Victim and The Ground Beneath—to luminous young Turks—like The Grave of Nobody’s Darling, Bellemah and The Porter Draw. The show will also function as a reunion of old-school-Albuquerque alt.rockers Starskyand another chance to see Bovine back in the vintage saddle.The cheap $5 cover will go toward any of the remaining bills insurance didn’t cover from the Golden West fire. Music To Your Ears Movies That Rock
David Byrne is appearing in the flesh on Sept. 28 at the Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque. Just in time to rile up the ticket holders and satiate the Byrne fans who can’t get a seat, the excellently named Esther Bone Memorial Library will extend its hours for for an after-hours screening of the Talking Heads’ landmark 1984 Stop Making Sense concert. (… the one with the big suit.) The free, hour-and-a-half-long screening is on Friday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. Find Esther Bone Library at 950 Pinetree SE in unhistoric Rio Rancho.
