What’s your day job?

I write science books. I’m really smart.

What do you do when you’re not working?

Drinking, but not because I have to. Crying in my pillow.

What are you reading?

Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume. Sometimes the most important discoveries are the ones you make about yourself.

What was the best concert you ever attended, and why?

An Evening with
Mr. Bungle, Sunshine Theater, 1999. A group of talented musicians playing numerous instruments and musical styles, often during the same song. It was something to behold. They started the show with an Ennio Morricone cover and ended it with Slayer’s "Chemical Warfare." Runners up: Broadcast, Os Mutantes.

What inspired this smoking mix of—as you described it—“the dopest rockabilly, blues, go-go grind and garage rock from the ’50s and ’60s coming to you in stereo Hi/Fi and rawer than onions"?

This is the music that should be playing in your bar. Toes tapping, rocking like an old dance hall or juke joint. It’s made for sinning—good times.

And in which bar do you prefer to sin?

I dig the
Atomic Cantina. It’s got cheap beer, a good jukebox and free live music. What else can you ask for? (Free beer.)

Are you a musician of some sort?

No, and I hate myself for that.

Anything else you’d like to share about yourself?

Last week at the grocery store, I counted at least seven different types of hummus flavors.

As a winner of the Alibi 's Earwig playlist competition, Sean wins $10 in his choice of goodies at Charley's 33s and CDs. Visit alibi.com/earwig to hear his mix and make your own.
