Stella Blue is closed, potentially forever. Nob Hill's premier dead-head bar and live music venue shut its doors a week ago for one reason or another. If you know anything about Stella's disappearance, drop me a line.

Blues you can feel good about. Despite what you've heard there is a cure for the summertime blues, and it just might be the Late Summer Blues Fest, presented as always by the New Mexico Jazz Workshop. This year's featured performers are The Swank, Strangetones, Motor Kings and the Chris Dracup and Dave Fuller Duo. That's this Sunday, August 7, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater. Cost is between $10 and $14. nmjazz.org.

Or, get your kicks in the bluegrass. This Saturday and Sunday, Edgewood is at it again with a weekend-long hootenanny of jams and performances, contests, workshops and chuck wagon barbecues at the beautiful Wildlife West Nature Park. Fiddles! Dobros! Mandolins! Plus, you won't want to miss Elliott's Ramblers, Palmer Divide and the straight-up Okie fiddlin' of the Byron Berline Band. Visit wildlifewest.com or call 281-7655 for information and directions.

Hey bands! Want more exposure? Send us your original, upcoming concert posters and we just might feature it in our new Flyer on the Wall section (see this week's champion down yonder). Send your poster as an electronic file to cassyle@alibi.com, or drop one off at our offices. The coolest-looking posters will get published, thus generating a ton of interest in your next gig! We'll need your poster art at least one week prior to the issue that coincides with the date of the show. Call us at 346-0660 ext. 245 or ext. 260 if you've got questions.
