Get Your Squawk On–So the inaugural Rocksquawk.com Music Showcase kicks off this weekend with some great local bands at eight locations Downtown. It's our hope that this Saturday's shindig will resonate with local musicians and music supporters alike—you know, turning up the dialogue within our scene and generally rocking all-around. On that note, if you've got something you'd like to say about this event, your band's next gig or anything that's music-related at all, hit up rocksquawk.com and get it out there. Log on, freak out and get your Squawk on!

The Date for Fall Crawl Has Been Changed–There was some sort of scheduling conflict with the city, and Fall Crawl had to get pushed up one weekend. The crawl is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15, instead of Saturday, Oct. 22, like we had originally planned. Everything else about the Crawl should remain the same, though. Alert your cousins—they're coming in a week early!

ZoneFest–Because you are angry and young, you will no doubt be pissed that the Rocksquawk.com Music Showcase isn't geared towards the all-ages crowd. In fact, no one under 21 will be permitted to enter any of our venues this time around—sorry kids, but that's the law! Luckily for y'all, The Zone is hosting it's own all-ages music festival on the same day at their San Mateo Store (just south of Menaul). You'll get more than 10 rocking bands for the price of none—that's right, it's a free show! So quit your bellyaching and go there instead. See this week's “Music Magnified” for more information.

The House that House Built–Chicago scenester and world-renowned house DJ Mark Grant will make a very special appearance right here in Albuquerque at Martini Grille's Absolut House party with our own DJ Eldon (who is awesome). Grant is a spectacular cheerleader for the house music community, and the fact that he's even playing here speaks volumes about his dedication. Get schooled in house music this Thursday, August 25, at 10 p.m. Admission is five bucks.
