Happy Trails, Cheryl — Cheryl Hooks, host of KUNM’s “Ear to the Ground,” panel member of the Albuquerque Music Association and champion of the all-ages music community in Albuquerque, is leaving New Mexico for a full-time on-air position in Arizona. “I’d like to say thanks to everyone in the New Mexico music scene,” Cheryl said in an e-mail last week. “It’s been a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of this community.” I call say is, it’s been a real honor working with the caliber of tireless local music advocacy that Cheryl has embodied through her work here in New Mexico. If you’ve never gone, the Christmas Extravaganza is a full-on dance party at the El Rey, and a great time to burn off a few extra fruit cake calories while having a great time . Cadillac Bob will be joined by jazz violinist Rob Janov and a few other artists who’ve joined in on the holiday jam over the past several years. Swamp Deville will open. Tickets are $10 and doors open at 7:30 for the 8 p.m. show.

Rob is the Winner—Rob More was the first to correctly answer all the mind-boggling components of last week's music puzzlers. In accepting his prize, Rob would like to say, “Thank you Albuquerque labels, bands and the
Alibi, for this bitchin’ prize package. As winner, I hope to make a difference. Support local music!” In case you were curious, Rob's answer to the One Question IQ Test (the best album of all time, in five words or less, mind you) was: “It hasn’t come out yet.” Rob, you are most certainly a musical genius. Cheers!
