Phantogram Sighting in Santa Fe

Indie pop with heavy sampling, hip-hop beats, velvety vocals and elements of psychedelia make
Phantogram one of the most adulated bands out in the hipster world these days. The Upstate New York electronic duo is on tour in support of Nightlife , a “mini-LP” which was released on Tuesday, Nov. 1. This Sunday, Nov. 6, the band plays a show at Santa Fe Sol (37 Fire Place, Santa Fe). The all-ages event begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $12. And we have a pair to give away. The first person who writes to me at cassyle@alibi.com, “PHANTOGRAM TICKETS” in the subject line, can have them.

Hats Off to Music Go Round

Anyone who plays music in Albuquerque knows it well, but for those who don’t:
Music Go Round (7116 Menaul NE) is a friendly chain store that buys and sells new and used gear. It’s like Buffalo Exchange, but for amps and keyboards instead of coats and tops. Two weeks ago Captain America wrote about a benefit show at the Launchpad for guitarist Kenta Henmi, whose recent stint in the hospital resulted in medical expenses most absurd [ “Friends With Benefits,” Oct. 20-26].

It seems that before the show on Wednesday, Oct. 26, Henmi had to sell three of his guitars to Music Go Round in order to cover some of these bills. At the show, however, the store gave Henmi his guitars back. Words don’t describe how cool that is, Music Go Round. We salute you.
