There are Christmas music aficionados, and then there’s Tahnee Udero. I’ve been listening to her all-purpose and holiday radio shows since her solo KUNM debut almost two years ago. What makes her shows and live DJ sets such a pleasure is the depth and breadth of her musical knowledge. In 2013 and as TAHNZZ, Udero released her debut solo noise release, Xila, on Sicksicksick Records, and it garnered listmas accolades from the Village Voice and Magnet. This holiday season, the critically acclaimed noise artist and DJ is homing in on Christmassy soul/funk/old R&B/doo-wop/classic jazz and vocalists on our beloved college radio station. Udero hosts Overnight Freeform on KUNM 89.9 FM on Monday, Dec. 23 and Tuesday, Dec. 24 from 1am to 5am. If you’re not a night owl, both cool Yule shows will be available to stream via KUNM’s two-week archive. DJ Tahnee gifts the Alibi and its readers with this peerless Xmas mixtape.
